Master of Dental Surgery | MDS
- The course shall be of 3 academic year duration, during which students are trained in clinical efficiency, laboratory work and research by experienced teachers. Each department is well equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories and equipment.
- The training of postgraduate for degree shall be full time with graded responsibilities in the management and treatment of patients entrusted to his/her care.
- Every Post Graduate candidate shall maintain a record of skills [Log Book] he has acquired during the three years training period, certified by the various Heads of Departments he has undergone training.
- The participation of the students in all facets of educational process is essential. Every candidate should take part in seminars, group discussions, case demonstration, clinics, journal review meetings, CPC and clinical meetings, symposia, conferences and lectures during each year as prescribed by the department. Every candidate should participate in the teaching and training programme of undergraduate students.

Eligibility
The following requirements shall be fulfilled by every candidate to become eligible to appear for the final examination.
- C) Work diary and Logbook:Every candidate shall maintain a work diary and logbook for recording his/her participation in the training programmes conducted by the department.
- B) Progress and conduct: Every candidate shall have participated in seminars, journal review meetings, symposia, conferences, case presentations, clinics and didactic lectures during each year as designed by the concerned department.
- A) Attendance: Each year shall be taken as a unit for the purpose of calculating attendance. Every candidate shall have not less than 80 % of attendance in each year of the course. However, candidates should not be absent continuously as the course is a full time one.
- D)Dissertation:Acceptance of dissertation shall be a precondition for the candidate to appear for the final examination.

- Replacement of missing teeth is very important. A single missing tooth can cause a lot of changes in the temporomandibular Joint and associates structures.
- The missing tooth/teeth lead to problems to the entire masticatory apparatus. It may lead to the movement of the teeth not only around the missing tooth but also the opposite side tooth, hence, there may be food lodgment, premature contact, trauma from occlusion, supra-eruption, altered speech, loss of appearance, foul smell (Halitosis) and also pain in the Tempero- mandibular joint. Hence, it is very essential to replace the missing tooth/teeth.
- Oral Pathology & Microbiology | Working in the field of Oral Pathology & Microbiology is very exciting as we deal with few of the most challenging diseases faced by mankind. Today Oral Cancer has taken its toll on people around the globe & is the fourth most common cause of death due to Cancer among Indian population. Through our education & applied research programme Oral Path department is making substantial contribution in the detection of potentially malignant lesions and lending a helping hand to our fellow clinical experts in diagnosis of Oral Cancer. Working as Oral Pathologist, we have the opportunity to address many dreaded diseases of head & neck region & help in their early diagnosis & treatment.
- Oral Medicine & Radiology | Oral Medicine is the specialty of Dentistry that sits at the interface between dentistry and medicine. The skills and activities of the department are well refined to provide an important and unique specialist service to patient, for the clinical care of all the ailments including chronic clinical problems in the Oro facial region. Oral Medicine deals with three inter-related aspects, viz: clinical care of patients, learning and teaching and research. This specialty primarily deals with the diagnosis and non- surgical management of oral and maxillofacial disorders and also addresses the dental needs of medically compromised patients. Hence clinical scope of oral medicine is very extensive and functions in close liaison with the several specialties of medicine.

- Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics | Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics in School of Dental Sciences, Sharda University is being run by a team of highly qualified and dedicated staff.Department of Conservative & Endodontics is located on 2nd floor in college, absorbing around forty six State of Art Dental Chairs for accommodating number of patients, in separate Under Graduate & Post Graduate clinical section. In separate Pre-Clinical Section, a Phantom head lab is provided to mimic real time patient care experience in lab setting. This provides necessary feel to the students before they enter into clinical section.
- Periodontology | This department generally deals with Prevention, Diagnosis & Treatment of diseases related to gums and supporting bone around teeth. Here patients are being treated for bleeding gums, bad breath, mobile teeth, receding gums, swollen or enlarged gums, periodontal abscess, pyhhorea etc. Services that are offered here include oral prophylaxis, curettage, abscess drainage, subgingival irrigation, fiber – splints, local drug delivery, anti-microbial photodynamic therapy, routine periodontal surgeries like gingivectomy, flap surgery, crown lengthening, operculectomy, frenectomy , regenerative procedures using synthetic & autogenous bone grafts and PRGF , advanced surgical procedures including Periodontal plastic surgeries and Dental implants, electrocautery and lasers.

The Department boasts of state of the art treatment facilities. Currently it is running an undergraduate and a post graduate program. - Public Health Dentistry | The main purpose of the department of Public Health Dentistry is to provide dental health education about oral diseases with applied dental research, administration of group dental care programmes as well as prevention & control of dental disease on a community basis.As we know that community based dental programmes are unavailable to a majority proportion of population, there is great need of methods that will target the individual, who are at great risk. Hence this department is involved in conducting regular dental camps in various villages, sectors to create the awareness of dental health.
