Introduction

Rashteeya Sikshana Samithi Trust (RSST). It took birth on the auspicious day of Vijayadasami in the year 1940, in a small rented obscure premise in Visveswapuram, bangalore. It was a vision, driven by its only teacher-founder, Sri M.C. Sivanda Sarma.
Over seven decades later, RSST today is a conglomerate of 27 educational institutions.

The Department of Physiotherapy spearheads education and patient care around the restorative science of physiotherapy. Established in 1996, the department offers undergraduate (BPT), postgraduate (MPT) and Ph.D programme which are recognized globally.
All programmes are affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS).
The Department of Physiotherapy collaborates with the students of medicine and other allied sciences. This fosters an academic environment where they learn and grow together.
Through an integrated committee of cultural, literary and sports teams, and collaborative community programmes, the students learn to respect and work with other streams of health sciences.

Course Offered

Bachelors In Physiotherapy | BPT

The duration of the program is 4 and a half years consisting of 4 years of study and 6 months of rotator internship. The programme consists of genial education course, physiology, biomechanics, neurology, clinical pathology, communication, and ethics/values.

Eligibility | Candidates who have passed pre-university examination (10+2) level examination or any other equivalent examination recognized by the boards with a minimum of 40% in Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects with English as a subject of study. In case of candidates belonging to SC/ST the minimum percentage of marks shall be 35% in the qualifying subjects.
Duration | 4.5 years including a 6-month compulsory rotating internship.
Intake | 40 students a year.
Internship | During 6-month compulsory rotating internship, students spend time in the Paediatrics, OBG and Orthopaedics wards, General Medicine and General Surgery wards as well as Neurology and Neurosurgery wards. Community posting is also mandatory during this time.

Master In Physiotherapy | MPT

This professional programme prepares students into practice of physiotherapy. It enables them to be knowledgeable, service –oriented, self assured, adaptable, reflective practitioners, who by virtue of critical and integrative thinking, lifelong learning and ethical values render independent judgments concerning patient needs that are supported by scientific evidence.
They will be able to promote the health of patient and enhance the professional, contextual and collaborative foundations for practice. These practitioners will be able to contribute to society and the profession through practice, teaching, administration and the discovery and application of new Knowledge about physical therapy experiences through case study and research.
